Parents Workshop: Saturday, 13 March 2010

We received overwhelming response for the parents workshop last saturday at IRAS Revenue House. Parents feedback that the session was very useful and informative.

Many were impressed by how Mr Tien was able to solve the tough PSLE questions using simple methods.

To meet the increasing demands from recent PSLE examinations, we will be launching a new e-learning portal in April. This online learning portal will help expose students to challenging questions and be imparted the unconventional strategies to solve them with the step-by-step solution video. These e-lessons provide a platform for students to learn at their own pace and re-practise anytime they wish. Thus, many parents enrolled their child for this new online learning on the spot!

Many also hope that Mr Tien will be able to conduct more of such events.

PSLE Exam Trends & How Your Child Can Excel in it!

Are PSLE questions getting tougher and tougher?
My answer is YES! Having trained primary 6 students for the past 2 decades, I am concerned of the increasing demand over our students to tackle more and more challenging questions asked in PSLE.

Take a look at last year’s PSLE question below. Can your child solve it? (Ans: 100 minutes)

Is PSLE really that important?
My answer is a DOUBLE YES!
Scoring in PSLE is extremely important as it qualifies a student’s entry to their choice secondary school as well as the educational stream they will be assigned to. As read in recent forum that students were denied entry to elite institutions despite doing well for their ‘O’ levels as most vacancies in these elite institutions were are assigned to students who did great in their PSLE!

So what can I do to prepare my child for PSLE?
I was asked this same question be many worried parents. I hope I can share my findings and suggestions in this email but it is not just a couple of sentences that I can do so. I have booked an auditorium this coming Saturday and will share the followings:

  • Changes in Paper TWO questions with the introduction of calculator
  • The latest A & A* questions trend & how your child can excel in these questions
  • How to help your child minimize careless mistakes under exam conditions
